Emiliano Roca
Bassist and Lutier
Born in Buenos Aires in 1982. He started his music studies at the Professional Conservatory of Terrassa with the teacher Jonathan Camps. During this time he participates in numerous courses and master classes of some of the most important double bass players on the international scene and collaborates in various youth and semi-professional orchestras.
At the same time, he focuses his interest on tango, a genre he studies in depth with Andrés Serafini and participating in the formative years of the Orquesta Escuela de Barcelona.
Since the beginning of his professional career, he has visited several countries with high quality training. He soon shares the stage with renowned tango musicians based in Europe and Argentina such as Marcelo Mercadante, Jorge Retamoza, Gustavo Battaglia, Franco Luciani, Juan E. Cuacci, to name a few, performing in the most prestigious venues in Europe, festivals and milongas and making recordings . Since 2009 he has been a permanent member of the Marcelo Mercadante Quintet and also of the Exilio New Tango group.
In 2013, motivated by his interests in construction and repair of string instruments, he obtained the title at the Bele de Luthería de Bilbao school. He combines these two activities in a professional manner and plays with a built-in double bass.
